China and India: Estimated and Projected Population by Age Groups, 1950 and 2050

Source: United Nations Population Division (2003): UN Population Estimates and Projections. The 2002 Revision, New York
Note: Charts produced with DemoTools '05 software.

According to these UN projections, China will experience a dramatic population aging in the next few decades. By 2050 almost half of the population will be 45 years and older and 23% will be 65 and older. By contrast, India will have a much younger (but also much larger) population in 2050: some 40% will be 45 or older; but less then 15% will be 65 and older.
