Average Life Expectancy at Birth in 2000 by Province: Males | Females I Both Sexes

Source: China Statistical Yearbook (2004) - based on 2000 Population Census
Note: Map was produced with the author's RAPS-China software.

According to the 2000 Population Census, female life expectancy is ranging between 80 years in Shanghai and 66 years in Tibet. While male life expectancy at birth in China is already surprisingly high, the life expectancy of Chinese females is truly amazing. In Eastern provinces the female life expectancy is quite comparable to that of most developed countries in Europe or the Americas.
