According to Veenhoven's index, China's population had a remarkably high level of "happiness". On a scale of 0 to 10, they have scored an average value of 6.3. For the period 2000-2008 this value was significantly higher than in India and some Eastern-European countries, such as Ukraine or Moldova. Not surprisingly, people in Zimbabwe and Tanzania did not enjoy their life, with average scores of only 3.3 and 3.2. In Iceland, Denmark, Switzerland and Austria, people on average enjoyed their life-as-a-whole with scores of between 7.9 and 8.5.
