According to these UN estimates, China has
clearly got its population growth under control. In both the medium
and the low UN projection variants China's population will actually
begin to decline before the year 2050. India, on the other
hand, is expected to experience significant population increase for
some time to come. Sadly, the only significant factor that seems to
slow down India's population growth is the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
According to these UN projections, India's population would almost
double without HIV/AIDS. |
