In 2008, the United States of America was the world leader in installed wind power, followed by Germany, Spain and China.

In per capita terms, Denmark has, by far, the largest installed capacity of wind power - followed by Spain and Germany. The United States of America had about the same per capita installed wind power in 2006 as Italy. In per capita terms, the installed wind power of India and China is negligible.
