| Per Capita Foreign Exchange
Earnings, 2001 - Ranking of provinces |

Source: China Statistical Yearbook,
2003, Table 18-8, p.697.
Note: Index was calculated and mapped with the RAPS-China tool. A
value of 0 is equivalent to the national average; positive values
indicate higher than average foreign exchange earnings, negative
values indicate lower than average earnings. The map displays the
ranking (not the values) of the provinces. Please note that we use per
capita exchange earnings in US$ rather than absolute earnings.

Per capita foreign exchange earnings
(primarily from tourism) are concentrated in Beijing and Shanghai -
and to some extend in the coastal provinces and in Tibet. In the
interior provinces of Hebei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Qinghai, Shanxi,
Anhui, Gansu, Jianxi, Henai, and Nigxia per capita foreign exchange
earnings, however, are minimal. |
