Science Indicators from Thomson Reuters, 2000 to 31 August 2010.
http://sciencewatch.com/dr/cou/2010/10decALL/
Note: The table is covering almost a 10-year period since 2000. |
|
Researchers in the United States of
America have published almost 3 million scientific papers between
2000 and August 2010. During the same period China published 719,971
papers. However, in citations per paper Switzerland is the clear
leader.
It is interesting to compare the scientific productivity with the
population of the respective country. The number of scientific
papers per capita was, by far, the highest in Switzerland - 42 times
as many as in China. The "density" of scientific publications is
still far higher in Europe and Northern America than in Asia. |
|
This ranking is based on papers
published in
Thomson Reuters-indexed journals
from January 2000 through August 31, 2010, a 10-year plus 8-month
period (fourth bimonthly). The listings are confined to those
nations, out of a pool of 147, which published at least 10,000
papers across all fields during the period. |
