1988-1993
In 1988 Zhang Yimous, fifth generation Chinese film maker becomes famous in Europe, as he wins the presigeous Berlinale film festival with his movie: "The red corn field". A new generation of Chinese movie makers are beginning to produce one cineastic surprise after the other. In 1993, Chen Kaige wins the Golden Palm at Canne's film festival with his movie: "Farewell, my Concubine". Critics called the movie "touching" und "brilliant".
